The 6th Children of Asia Games
The 6th Children of Asia International Sports Games held in the capital of Yakutia on July 6-16 became the largest event of 2016 in the sphere international sports cooperation.
The 6th Children of Asia International Sports Games brought together 35 foreign delegations and 8 teams representing Russian federal districts and regions (Ural, Siberian, Far Eastern Federal Districts, Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Yakutia) - 2,841 participants in total. 700 referees served the Games.
The Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Far Eastern, Siberian, Ural Federal Districts, Syria represented the biggest delegations - more than one hundred people in each delegation.
About 190 honorable guests visited the Games: representatives of the government of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Games patrons, diplomats, leaders of governments, parliaments, as well as National Olympic committees and sports federations of the participating countries, etc.
Competitions were held at 12 sports and 22 training venues: basketball, boxing, volleyball, judo, kurash, track and field athletics, mas wrestling, table tennis, powerlifting (paralympic), swimming, shooting sport, sambo, wrestling sport, archery, trap shooting, taekwondo, football, khapsagai wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, chess, draughts, Yakut jumps.
Athletes competed for 211 sets of medals. Young athletes of the Siberian Federal District took the first place in team rating with 114 medals (49 gold, 29 silver, 36 bronze). United team of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) took the 2nd place (27 gold, 34 silver, 36 bronze). Team Kazakhstan took the 3rd place (25 gold, 28 silver, 36 bronze).
Every year, the Games’ prestige and the number of participants is growing, it says that participating countries consider these Games as a serious step on the way to Youth Olympics and the Olympic Games. Many Olympic athletes from Russian regions and Asia made their first steps on international sports arena at previous Children of Asia International Sports Games.
It should be noted that the level of training of athletes has increased significantly compared to previous Games. Most of the athletes had been selected from among the best athletes of their country or region to participate in Children of Asia Games. Therefore, the winners and medalists of the Games are really the best athletes of Russia and Asian countries.
During the Closing ceremony, the 7th Children of Asia International Sports Games 2020 to be held in Mongolia were presented, and the flag of the Games at the stadium was received by the Hero of Mongolia, World Boxing Champion, silver medalist of the Olympic Games Mr. Purevdorjiin SERDAMBA. Thus, another country will be hosting Children of Asia Games for the first time in the history.
