The 2nd Children of Asia Games

The 2nd Children of Asia International Sports Games were held from 4th to 13th of August, 2000 in Yakutsk. 1,178 young athletes participated from 23 regions of Russia and 13 foreign countries (Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Kazakhstan, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, and Japan).
Athletes competed for 129 sets of medals in 16 sports (Basketball, Boxing, Khapsagai (national wrestling of Sakha), Volleyball, Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, Athletics, Mas-Wrestling (pulling of a stick), Draughts, Table Tennis, Northern All-Around, Artistic Gymnastics, Sports Dance, Archery, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Chess, and Yakut Jumps).
New sporting venues such as the Dolgun Swimming Pool and Yunost Athletics Hall were built in Yakutsk. Also Yakutsk State University’s brand new Natural Sciences Building and a 1,500 bed dormitory were put into operation by the beginning of the Games.
