The 5th Children of Asia Games

The 5th Children of Asia International Sports Games were held from 4th to 16th of July, 2012 in Yakutsk, Mirnyi and Neryungri.
The Games hosted 2,042 participants consisting of 34 teams, including 455 coaches and representatives and 1,587 athletes, of which from the 26 Asian countries there were 1,010 people (237 coaches and representatives and 773 athletes), while from the Russian Federation (8 teams) – 1,032 (218 coaches and representatives and 814 athletes).
Athletes competed for 292 sets of medals, out of 34 teams athletes from 27 teams received prize-winning places. The following teams became winners by medal count: First team of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) – 101 medals, Siberian Federal District – 87 medals, and Kazakhstan – 70 medals.
186 venues were involved in the Games, including: 15 competition venues, 26 training venues, 62 accommodation venues, 71 meals venues, 12 venues for the business program.
Preparation for the 5th Games was carried out with a much larger scope and scale. Four large competition venues were put into operation before the Games: Triumph Sports Arena with 3,000 seats, Dokhsun Football Arena, Cholbon Swimming Pool, second building of Modun Center for National Sports, and the new passenger terminal of Yakutsk Airport.
